Matariki with Scratch

For Matariki my class has been learning how to code using Scratch.First we had to choose our character and a backdrop. Then we could get coding.

 I really enjoyed getting to choose my character and learning how to use all the different buttons on scratch. I did find using the buttons to navigate very difficult and challenging because you have navigate using numbers. 

I also learned  how to change backdrops, add characters and and make those characters move. I think that if I had gotten some more time I would have added more scenes where my sprite finds more stars for the matariki cluster.Although my project isn't finished I hope you will enjoy it.

The Most Amazing Authors Purpose Ever

 With Matariki just around the corner for our learn,create, share we were learning about matariki.My digital learning object shows my author's purpose and tells you a little about each story. I enjoyed reading about matariki but found it challenging to write my summary.Do you know what an author's purpose is?

The Great Home Learning Art Competition.

 Last week our school held a contest for next year's art that would go on the home learning book covers. They haven’t announced the winner yet but I hope it’s me.My digital learning object shows my artwork for the competition. It includes the 4 house colours and a quote for each saint. The school motto is also included along with the school logo.I enjoyed drawing and outlining my artwork but found it challenging to come up with ideas for my artwork.Have you ever taken part in an art contest?

The Amazing Fossil fuels

 This week we have been learning about fossil fuels, what they are and how we use them because these fuels are non replaceable and take millions of years to form.My digital learning object shows a selection of slides about our experiment, what we did,what the results were and why we did the experiment.The self assessment shows if we were successful or not.I enjoyed writing in the results on my chromebook and what my science slide show is about.I found it challenging to do the experiment itself because it was rather difficult.Do you know what fossil fuels are?Here’s a link to the video that gave me information.

The Incredible Synthesis

This week I have been learning about how to write a synthesis with information about what we had read. My digital learning object shows my synthesis of the story called 'For The Ancestors'. It was spread out for about 3 days. On Tuesday we wrote what we already knew, on Wednesday we wrote what we had learnt and on Friday we had to write what we now understood. I really enjoyed learning about Samoan culture but found it challenging to write my synthesis because it was very complicated. Do you know how to write a synthesis?

 This week is samoan language week and for one of my tasks I had to make some samoan art. I looked online for some ideas and decided what I was going to do.My digital learning object shows me holding my artwork which I drew using pencil and then a sharpie.I enjoyed drawing my artwork and making pop.I found it challenging to choose a design to draw because there is such a variant.Have you ever made samoan art before ?Here's a link to the video that helped me.

The Incredible Samaon Translation

This week is samoan language week and so as our homework we have a selection of tasks and one of these tasks was to write a samoan to english translation of some basic phrases.My digital learning objects show my google drawing of my translation with a colourful background.I enjoyed writing the translation’s on my google drawing but found it challenging to find the correct translation. How to Create the Perfect Covenant Song

This week we have been learning about covenants with God from the old testament because a covenant is often mistaken for an agreement.My best friend Emma and I decided to write a song about what a covenant 

is and why it’s important in the old testament.For my digital learning object I wrote our song text.My digital learning object show’s my song in action with me and my friend singing the lyrics and some background music playing that we got from wevideo.I found it hard to write the verses about some special covenants that people had with god.
