This term, we have been learning about the Horouta waka and it's journey to New Zealand. The Horouta brought kumara to New Zealand on board. The wahine Hinehakirirangi took care of the kumara. The Horouta crashed on Ohiwa where the hull was damaged. Pawa and Kiwa, the voyagers aboard the waka, discussed the options for a while before deciding that Pawa would go ashore and find the special timber required to fix the waka. Kiwa made some minor repairs to the waka using flax and started traveling across the shoreline. If you want know the rest of the story just take a look at my slide show down below.
Kia ora Emma,
ReplyDeleteWow! This was awesome and very informative. I can see you put a lot of effort into making your slide. I thought it was interesting that Paoa used the Waipaoa river to transport timber to Kiwa.
Just make sure you put in capital letter for their names and the places as well.
